His own passion for gardening emerged at the age of 27, when he restored his first home - a Victorian terraced house in London, UK. During the ten years he lived and worked there, he developed a profound interest in historical homes and gardens. This ‘English experience’ continues to have a considerable influence on his work today.

Both he and his wife Trinnica, who is a photographer and educator, have travelled several continents and worked in countries as diverse as Singapore, Russia, France, Iceland and South Africa.

Friedrich was raised in a creative and nurturing family of musicians, artists, and gardeners in the village of Oberschützen, in the Burgenland region south of Vienna, Austria.

During the 1960s, his parents bought and restored an 1814 farmhouse, where they also planted a remarkable garden. Today, Friedrich and his wife Trinnica still own this home, which to him remains an ideal of what a house and garden should be.

Before moving to the United States in 2018, Friedrich enjoyed a career as a singer, pianist, songwriter, playwright and theater director.

Shortly after Friedrich, Trinnica, and their daughter Vivianna settled in Oklahoma, he met and started working with eminent landscaper Jane Fanning, who gave him opportunity to broaden his skills and knowledge, and connect with likeminded people in the Tulsa area.

In 2020, Friedrich started building his own client base and founded Edelweiss Landscaping LLC.

Beyond gardening, the Gamerith family shares a love for music, literature, art, photography, all things historical and education.
